Specialist counselling for NDIS participants living with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder β delivered outdoors, one step at a time, by a registered nurse and mental health clinician.
Walk & talk therapy takes the session out of the clinic and into the world β walking side by side, in nature, reduces the power differential and social anxiety that can make traditional therapy inaccessible for many people living with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.
Sessions are structured around capacity building goals in your participant's NDIS plan, working at their pace on the life areas that matter most to them: community engagement, daily living skills, self-management, and social connection.
With a background in acute and crisis mental health nursing β including Clozapine care and frequent-ED-presenter programs β Greg understands the complexity of these conditions from both the clinical and human sides.
Make a ReferralOpen outdoor spaces reduce the enclosed, high-pressure feel of a therapy room β a known barrier for clients experiencing paranoia or heightened environmental sensitivity.
Rhythmic bilateral movement (walking) activates integrative brain processing, supporting emotional regulation and reducing the cognitive rigidity often present in psychotic spectrum conditions.
Walking side by side is naturally less confrontational than eye contact across a desk β this alone can dramatically improve engagement for clients who struggle with traditional therapy formats.
Sessions happen in the same community spaces clients navigate daily β making skills practiced in session immediately transferable to real life, aligning directly with NDIS capacity building goals.
Greg's nursing background means sessions can incorporate medication adherence support and early warning sign monitoring as part of a holistic recovery approach.
Progress notes and goal tracking written with support coordinators in mind β clear, functional, and aligned to NDIS plan goals and review timelines.
Mental Health Clinician & Counsellor
Greg Adams is not a typical counsellor. With a career spanning acute inpatient mental health nursing, Clozapine clinic care, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and frequent-ED-presenter intervention programs, Greg brings a level of clinical literacy that allows him to work safely and effectively with the most complex presentations in the community.
His Masters of Mental Health research deepened his understanding of recovery-oriented practice β the belief that a meaningful life is possible regardless of diagnosis. This underpins everything he does with NDIS participants.
Walk & talk counselling isn't a gimmick for Greg β it grew from years of community mental health work where he saw that the hardest-to-reach clients often connected most readily when the session wasn't a session. When it was just two people, walking, talking, and solving problems together.
